Q1. Hey Meghann, thanks for joining us for a chat! You have highlighted the topic of mental health on air and on your website Meghannmix.com - how important is it for us, particularly the younger generation, to be actively engaging in conversation about it?
It's important to talk about mental health openly and honestly so we can create a safe place for others to feel welcome and to show young people that they are not alone. When I was at my most vulnerable it was the loneliness that was the most difficult feeling to deal with. I had great people around me but I didn't have the confidence to share my feelings. Nowadays I feel much more comfortable sharing my story because an environment has been created for this to happen which is great. There is still work to do, we can't ever stop so we ensure our younger generation know that's okay not to be okay.

Q2. You graduated in Irish & New Media studies from UL, and have a masters in journalism from NUIG - In your opinion, what sparked your interest in radio & media?
I have always wanted to work in the media. I always knew that was the path I wanted to take so made sure to pave a way towards it in school. I took part in public speaking, school plays and I even read at mass. They all gave me confidence to pursue a career in the media. There was no one thing that sparked an interest I just knew I felt comfortable talking to large crowds and sharing stories with people. Everyday is different in the media which I love. I need variety to keep me motivated.
Q3. You've been presenting the Fully Charged show on Spin South West radio, writing a column for The Chronicle and running your own website! What do you enjoy about each vocation?
Fully Charged is so much fun and I think that is obvious when you tune in. Ed and I have a great friendship and it comes naturally to us. It's fun, young and local and we get to meet some great people and go to some great gigs. The atmosphere in Spin is great and welcoming and getting up at 5.30 every morning doesn't phase me because I love my job.
When I initially studied journalism it focused heavily on print so when the opportunity arose to have my own column in a local paper I jumped at it. I can write about whatever I like and I love having that freedom.
My website is more of a hobby and a place to share the work from my book which is due for release in March of this year. It's great having an online diary to share my story and life with people from all over the world. I also share all my travel blogs as well with tips and tricks.

Q4. Who would you describe as your biggest role model(s) & why?
My mammy Pauline. She has been my biggest rock, supporter, 'momager' and shoulder to lean on. She knows what's best for me and I only ever take her advice on board. She's the person I trust the most and she only has my best interests at heart. I run everything by her from work decisions to dating!
Q5. Finally, what is on the cards for you in 2018?
2018 is an exciting year for me as my debut book Broken Love launches in March. It's my story with grief and loss. It's something I have been working on over the years and finally this year I am strong in my own skin to share something so personal in the hope of helping others who are suffering.
We also have some exciting plans coming up with Spin so every week there is something to look forward to. I'll be getting some more trips away in as I love travelling. I'm planning on hitting up more gigs this year also and loads more rugby games to attend.
You can catch Meghann weekdays from 6:45am on Spin South West's Fully Charged show.
